Found myself a Full Time job.
Back to my attachment company.
IDS medical system.

i will be stationing at Mount Alvernia hospital and do maintenance check for the medical equipment that the doctors and nurses use.

Now i'm taking my car license also.
My traffic police test is on 25 July 2008.

Tuan came and gave us training of Graseby 3300 pump and gave us the manual for our own reference.

He also helped us with the PM on that 3300 pump using his accuracy gauge special tool which Mount Alvernia does not have.
3300 PCA pump is designed similar to the M16A syringe driver, the only different is the size and it can be program according to the patient's dosage of drugs.

After lunch, Melvin, Mr Loh and me went up to the wards to do PM for quite a number of equipments.

I did the Electrical safety test for Infant Warmer equipment while Melvin did the testing for the temperature check.

I did not know where to ground the infant warmer at first so i clip the ground cable to the metallic pole. The ESA test failed and i tried to clip the ground cable to one of its screws nearer to the circuit board and so it pass the leakage current test at last.

Next, it is the humidifier equipment.
It is use to warm the air to a certain preset temperature and then pass to the patient's lungs.
We will need to do the same ESA test and temperature check for this machine.

This picture below shows the Lactina Breast Pump.
The grey and white equipment that has a reading of 141 is the pressure tester for this breast pump.
There are three adjustment to the pressure:
Minimum is range from 100mmHg to 150mmHg.
Medium is range from 200mmHg to 250mmHg.
Maximum is range from 300mmHg to 350mmHg.

Monday

Monday morning went to Tan Tock Seng Hospital waited for Tham and he called saying that Jeffery is on leave so waited for his car at taxi stand and we going to Changi General hospital.
Along the way, Tham told me that he had to submit some reports to Phillips so we headed to Phillips first.

After we arrived at CGH, we went to the BME first to borrow a push trolley to put all our testers equipment and push to the wards.

We went to MICU ward and SICU ward to do PM on Pagewriters and Heartstart MRX monitor which model number is M1166A.
It is a very small transport patient monitor which has all the functions of the big patient monitor we normally sees in the wards.

As usual, Tham will do the testing of equipments and i do the electrical testing (ESA) and paperwork to save time.
Tham told me that the service password for the MRX monitor is 27678 and asked me to try and so i did.

After the day's job, we went back to BME to return the trolley and to submit reports to Mr. Derrick seah.

Tuesday

Today i met Tham at CGH then he said there is a change of plan so we headed to Mount Alvernia hospital to finish up the contract services there.
Upon reaching Mount Alvernia, we went straight up to the labour ward hoping that there is some empty rooms for us to do PM.
We waited and rest there for hours and there is still no empty room so we went down to find Mr. Toh, Mount Alvernia bme coordinator for help as he is familiar with the hospital.
Mr. Toh then bring us to find the remaining small modules.
We went to the major operating theater and search for the store room and we are unable to find some of the modules. So we have no choice but have to continue to wait at the labour ward for empty beds.

It was about 1pm and Tham had a appointment at Jurong Island for servicing a ECG machine.
Tham told me it was at jurong Island and so i asked no further.
So Tham drove to the Jurong Island checkpoint and found out that the location of the customer is located at 18 Pioneer road.
The place is ExxonMobil, it quite a big place actually and had security guards around.
We went there to service a pagewriter Trim 3 ECG machine.

Today we spent our time at CGH.
We went to all the wards listed on the PM list and finished up Changi General Hospital's PM.
Example of how to get to the ward is that ward 46 is located at level 6 and ward 13 is located at level 3.
Now i know that the last digit of the ward number stands for their level.

Thursday

Today at SGH doing PM for the fetal monitor at the labour ward (ward 52A).
Tham's ESA tester is very sensitive to external connection and one example of interception is the LAN cable that connects the fetal monitor to the computer placed below the equipment and the cable has to be unplug in order to proceed with the testing.

We went to A&E department to service defibrillator and a V24CT patient monitor.

Friday morning at TTSH doing service call from Jeffery.
Tham thought Jeffery was going to ask him redo the PM but upon reaching ward 7A, Jeffery asked Tham to repair the Pagewriter which has a double printing problem.

Tham did a self test function on the Pagewriter and print out the settings for it and went to other ward to compare the settings if there is any difference.
As to Tham prediction, one of the setting had been programmed wrongly or accidentally set to the other setting.

Following that afternoon we went to the MAH's labour ward do to 3 fetal monitors and that will complete Mount Alvernia's PM for the month.
After that went to SGH labour ward to do PM for a Codemaster defibrillator.

WHOLE WEEKEND !! imagine that !!

almost wanted to die already la...

ok heres the story...

Friday when i'm still working, i sms my fren to take the bike fork cos i broke mine and i wanted to go for friday nite ride at town with frenz.

he sms me saying that i have to go his house now to collect if i want the fork as he is going out soon.
so i sms my other frenz see if anyone of them free can help me collect.
noone is free... -.-

nvm.. my fren the one selling fork called me saying that he will wait for me to finish work and go his house collect till 6pm den he go out.

i happily agreed and decided to go off abit earlier than usual.
around 530pm when i board the crowded train, my fren sms me saying that he is outside already. -.-"

i replied "F**k, why u nv tell me u r going out".
he dunno give what excuses saying fren ask him go out.

den i was like =.= double sian already la.. canceled my friday nite outing with frenz.
then today which was saturday, i called him from 12pm all the way to 10pm he nv pick up his fone.
1030pm he sms me saying "i juz woke up and going town already."

haiz.. i dunno wat to say to this kind of ppl.
irresponsible ppl...

its so hard to buy things from him and i don feel like spending 300bucks already. =.=
but i also wanto ride my bike fast ! argh...

Monday

Me and Tham were stationed at TTSH the whole day.
First we went to the X-ray department to do up 4 Codemaster defibrillators till lunch time.
We had to do up Jeffery's PM list also at the ward area.
From what i heard and what i experienced, Jeffery is a person that is very particular about things and he checked through all our submitted reports thoroughly.

He spotted Tham's mistake about the Heartstart defibrallator's printout and the Electrical Safety Analyzer test printout.
The printout shows Type 2 equipment being selected for the test whereas it was supposed to be type 1.

So in the end Jeffery had to follow us up to the ward to redo that equipment and using threatening tone saying doing something wrong can cost a life to Tham in a joking manner.
As Tham is doing the equipment and i was writing the report, Jeffery talked to me.
After the equipment is done, we went down to BME department to submit the report.
Jeffery told Tham not to repeat this mistakes again and causing inconvenience for both parties.
Thats all for Monday.

Tuesday

Tham asked me to meet at TTSH in the morning.
When i reached TTSH, he told me that theres a change of plan and headed to Gleneagles Hospital instead.
When we reached GEH (Gleneagles hospital), went to BME workshop to find the person in charge to help us to locate the machine.
So we did 3 heartstart defibrillators at the workshop. The OT is just one door away from BME workshop so the person in charge helped us swap the equipment after we had done one.

Left one defibrillator in the PCMS (parkway centre medical simulation) room which had not done so we went to find.
It was located at the rooftop and the purpose of the room is for teaching the nurses.
We went up the roof access stairs and found nobody in the simulation room so we go back.
thats all for tuesday.

Wednesday

Morning went to TTSH to do PM as usual.
Did patient monitors and defibrillators.
Other than Mr Jeffery from TTSH BME, this time is under Mr Federick.

Afternoon went to Serangoon SilverCross clinic to answer to a service call.
Did a simulation check and printout check. Everything's fine and we had wasted a trip there.
Meet Mr Aw around that area, he is from Gleneagles hospital BME and Tham told me he stay at Serangoon area.

Went to NUH CTICU to d PM for those remaining beds patient monitors and check the modules serial number.

Last stop was at boon lay, Jurong medical centre which is next to library.
Tham told me JMC is under Alexander hospital and we went to the OT in JMC to do a PM for a patient monitor.

Thursday

Morning meet Tham at Mount Alvernia hospital to do PM at the labour ward.
We did a few fetal monitors in the empty rooms and went over to NUH CTICU to do a patient monitor as the staff nurse called us.
We have to prior to NUH because CTICU is always fullhouse so once its vacant then we must grab our chance to do PM there.

After that we went back to Mount Alvernia again to do PM at the major OT at level 4.
When we just finished doing the small patient monitor at the OT, Tham received a call from SGH burn centre (ward 43) saying that some equipments had due for PM.

Since the nurse called, Tham decided to go down.
Upon reaching Burn centre, we did codemater defibrillator and some dmsll patient monitors in the rooms.

Friday

Morning meet Tham at SGH bme to change pass.
Then proceed on to Burn centre to finish up this month equipments at there.
Went to rm 17 & rm 19 to do PM for monitors.
Room 17 had a sign saying dropplet & contact precautions and so we have to wear apron and gloves into that room.
After that everything had to throw inside the rubbish bin of that room.

Its is lunch time and had receive a call from NUH CTICU again so we have to rush down and do PM for another equipment.
After that went to Mount alvernia to do some PM.

Monday
08/10/07

Morning went to the office as Tham is still on leave.
Tuan has to conduct a training and so i attended it.
The training is about Graseby 3000 series pump and he conducted the training for NUH's BME at Tuas office.
Actually Tuan said there's no need for a training because everything you need to know about the pump is already inside the manual.
During the training, Tuan presented with powerpoint slides and brought up some samples of infusion pump from the workshop at level 1 to show live example to the engineers.
Some of the topics covered are the different assembly of the pumps, error code numbers, special tools for testing and some cautions when doing the calibration checks.

Lunchtime Tuan and a salesgirl drove all the NUH engineers and me to Raffles Marina to eat.
The treat will be on the boss and that means we can order whatever we want.
After lunch went back office to continue the training.
It was pretty much hands on for the later part of the training as the engineers have some questions of calibration to ask and Tuan just dismantle the pump and show them step by step.

Tuesday

Tham ask me to go to NUH myself to meet him.
so i take the shuttle bus from buona vista MRT to NUH.
He meet me at the taxi stand and bring me to level 2 to LRW ward.
I can see that all the beds are taken and so the nurse told us that we can service one monitor first and they exchange with another bed.
We did PM for 5 bed patient monitors and Tham receive a call from Phillips calling him to go back to office for something.
So he drop me at Toa Payoh central as it is near to Phillips and hopefully after the short meeting he can pick me up and proceed on with the job.
I went to the library to read up some books and waited.
I waited till about 5pm and Tham called me saying that it is too late to do services already so asking me to go home.

Wednesday

I was asked to wait at Toa Payoh the swimming complex in the morning and Tham drives me to Gleneagles hospital as i do not know how to go.

We reach Gleneagles, headed towards the security counter to exchange for a pass and went to BME.
Gleneagles we look for Eric who is in charge of our PM and he gave us instructions to do it.
We have no time but only did 2 Heartstart defibrillator.
Tham received a service call that he had to go back Phillips to take a LCD monitor and bring to NUH to change.
So we had lunch at Toa Payoh and headed to NUH to change the LCD for patient monitor.
we had a hard time replacing the monitor as there are many screws at the back and plus the hanger also need to take out.
Then we met NUH BME's Ivan and he help us out here and there and also turn on the monitor for us because we keep pressing the wrong button to switch on the monitor.

Thursday

Thursday went to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Whole day was doing the same Heartstart XL model M4735A defibrillator.
Tham said had to complete ttsh job as soon as possible.
Pushing the trolley of testing equipment from ward to ward to service the defibrillator is tiring and most of the wards are not air conditional.

12/10/07

Morning i went straight to office as Tham need to get some service replacement part from Mr ong.
So i waited for Tham to come and after he got the box from Mr Ong then we left office.
Heading towards Serangoon' Silver Cross Clinic which is located just beside the bus interchange.
Then i open up the box and realised it was battery inside.
It was the battery for the pagewriter machine.
Tham instructed me to take out the old battery and i can clearly see that the block of battery was bloated in shape.
And i think the battery cost about $300.
Next stop is the EastShore Hospital located at bedok.
Tham had to deliver the small patient monitor to them as the nurse there complain that the servicing took too long.
Tham wanted to explain to them that the Phillips engineers has been very busy in a big project and cause the delay but in the end he never say anything because the BME people never ask anything.
After lunch, we went to gleneagles hospital to service 2 Heartstart defibrillator.
As the others defibrillators were in use or standby so we cannot service.

Friday

I report to toh guan IDS warehouse at 10am.
I reach there just on time because there isn't any traffic jam.
After i change my security pass, proceed to level 2 warehouse and press the door bell while waiting for people to open the door.

I walked in after the door has been opened, saw Thomas.
He told me that the batch of goods have arrived so he bring me to the area and ask me to wait.
After a few minutes, i saw Desmond, the IDS engineer came.
He asked if i am the attachment student, and we chatted.

Desmond is an engineer doing project and he came to the warehouse because Stephen asked him to come and also his morning time slot is free so came to help me stock check.

In total we assembled 16 equipments, Pagewriter Trim3.
It is very similar to yesterday's pagewriter but its smaller.
It was about 3pm when we finished everything so i have nothing to do and i asked him if i can follow him to do his service call.
Desmond called office to check if there is still anything for me, then he bring me to KKH operation theater to change the OT light's screws as they were all worn out.

Attachment Day 24

I was asked to report to the office since Tham is on leave today. As usual, take the shuttle bus from jurong east MRT at 745am and reach tuas office at about 815am, which is still very early and no sign of anyone yet.

I waited for Mr ong to come and he assign some paperwork to me which will last me till lunch time. He said i'm suppose to follow Stephen to the warehouse to stock check some equipments.

okay after lunch i waited for Stephen a while and he drove me to toh guan warehouse. The warehouse is the place where all the imported goods are store and pack before they are deliver to various hospitals.

Today we unpacked 11 pagewriter and assemble them to test out if they are in working condition. Mr ong called and ask me to report to warehouse in the morning tomorrow for more unpacking and assembling. =)

Wednesday

today morning i went CGH, meeting Tham at CGH.
I reach at 10am sharp, and he called me, saying that he might be late as he is still in the office.
So i suggested to wait and i did not aspect him to call me back at 11am saying that he cannot make it already. He ask me to go for lunch myself and meet him at CGH at 2pm.

So i went for lunch and back at 215pm.
He called me saying that he will meet me at 3pm to go to the BME to collect the overdue PM list for CGH.

Waited for him till 330pm and he came out from inside the building.
He was wearing formal attire, telling me that i can go home and have an early rest today.
After that i asked him if he was going other hospitals for servicing, he replied that he is going SGH for a service call and told me off.

But i suggested that he dropped me at SGH then i took MRT home its nearer so i went up his car. He refused to let me follow him for the service call as his reason was that it was just a simple job.

I had nothing to say but to go home after long waiting for him.

Tuesday

Today morning meet Tham at SGH.
Our meeting was 830am and when i reach at 830am i sms him informing him that i have reach.
He replied that he is having breakfast so ask me to wait for a while.
Waited for him till about 850am while reading the free newspaper.

In SGH the whole day today, went to Urology to service a defib and a monitor.
I did the same as what he tells me to do, paperwork again.

First step is to tear down the PM sticker and make sure it is due and is on our October PM list.
Then i will write the report and he will service the machine.

Next we went to ECCU and A&E department to service five patient monitors of V26 model.

After lunch, i waited for him outside ward56B and we did four MP50 patient monitor.

Realised we still have a bit of time then we went to PERINA to do another two Fetal monitors for room1 and room4.

From today onwards, i'm attach to another engineer named Tham for one month. He is from IDS and is working on Phillips products. And he is a really busy person as he had to do a lot of PM services every month.

First day attach to him we went SGH to kick off the start of the month schedule. Once reach SGH, i exchange the contractor pass from BME department, we proceed to National Heart Centre.

The difference of Tham and William is that Tham carries all his testers equipment along with him in a single trolley around. We went to level two of NHC (National Heart Centre) to service ECG machine, pagewriter. Tham keep asking me to do the paperwork work for him as he has a lot of machines to do and so i followed.

Did six Pagewriter from room to room and in between we have to wait for the nurse to show us the room. Lunchtime we had our lunch just at level one at NHC and after that we went back to work.

after which we went to the labour ward call PERINA to service Fetal monitor in room2.

Next Tham bring me to some isolated wards ward 11 and ward 12 to service some defibrillator across the street isolate from those main buildings. He say these two wards are for the SARS patient. The defib is placed at the nurse counter so Tham ask me to sit down and do my paperwork again. He is just too busy to teach me.

We did two defib and it was 530pm.

argh.. today is sunday!

went to play bike at Gangsa Hill.
then have lunch with those people at bukit panjang Bangkit.
talk to them quite alot..

okay.. upon reaching my block downstairs. i decided to play abit and practice my bike stunt which i still learning. 180 to floater. and guess wad.. I SPRAINED my ANKLE on my last attempt !

fell off the bike and sit on the floor for 5mins crying in pain.. not with tears of coz...
argh.. swollen ankle now.. i limped home.. pushing my bike and carry my bag.

reachh home bathe.. then apply chinese medical oil. use hand to rub the swollen part. OUCH !
it hurts alot but have no choice.. TML still got work leh! sian...

now rubbing the oil again and hope tml will be better already.. ="(

Friday

Meet William at commenwealth at 8am sharp as the appointment in SGH is 830am.
Early in the morning went to SGH operation theater to service an IABP pump system97.
The reason why we have to go so early is because the operation theater has cases at about 9am and they will be extremely busy and nobody will attend to us.

so we reach there earlier than appointment time and quickly service that pump.
luckily the maintenance service this month for this machine is a minor one and so the test and checks we have to do will be simple. this IABP system 97 pump is an older version than system 98 and has no auto modes to check internal function so we has to do it ourselves.

We did a electrical safety test and also did a few simple checks for the machine. William told me that if it is the major PM then we will have to bring the testing equipment to test. IABP pump have regular checks every three months and minor and major is alternatively.

this machine belongs to type 1 class CF (cardiac floating), that means the machine has direct contact to patient's heart.

Next stop was NUH.
we did two ventilator by SIEMENS servo 900c.
they are the older version ventilator which meter runs on analog system.
so far i have not seen servo 900c before and it looks quite new as the hospital had hardly use them.
i think is because they have got the newer version of ventilator and this model isn't that user friendly.

thursday

Morning went to NUH for William's project meeting.
then after the meeting went SGH to do perventive maintenance for IABP system 98 pump.
first time i am exposing to this pump after reading the manual.

as usual, William will clean the exterior of the machine. And i will do the Electrical Safety Analyzer test first.

I follow the checklist to perform the various checks with William teaching me how to operate the machine. this machine has quite a lot of test to be done but mostly is machine calculate the results so it is easier.
the longest time is the battery test. we had to run the machine on battery till the machine shows low batt. a newly bought machine's battery life last about 2 hours.

but the machine we doing PM is bought quite long ago so the battery life is not that long.
the whole testing process take us about 1hour 30min.

After lunch we went to KKH to do patient monitor.
When we reach the OT, the patient monitors that we wanted to do PM are all on patients and the nurse told us to come back in 1 hour's time.

so we went to BME workshop to rest for a while. then we met another vendor. i forgot what's his name already but he is from drager company, IDS's competitor.

after waiting for an hour, we went up to the OT again.
luckily now they have one monitor for us to service as they are very busy.
so we swap one monitor for one after we service one so they can use at the same time.
thats all the thursday.

Wednesday

morning i report to office.
William had to service the CUSA machine.

we did not know the fault at first but as soon as we started testing, William discover that the tester meter had the cable short together and burn the ultrasound PC board.

William had to change the board and test again.
after changing the board, William had to service the test meter and make sure that the wire connecting to CUSA is not short.

He took out the cable, follow the line and make a new cable following the same connections.
He soldered the wire together and put them back to the machine.
Using multimeter to find out that whether the new wires has any accidental link or short to each other.
small or minor mistakes can cause the whole machine to be malfunction and it is quite serious especially when the machine is new!

when the repairing work is done, we started to test the machine according to the checklist given.
everything is within range and the machine work just as fine so we pack up.

it was about 1.30pm and we have not eaten our lunch.
But we were too tired to move so we rest at the workshop for a while and went NTU to have our lunch after that.

after lunch we went to Ang Mo Kio's KK women's clinic for PM services on ultrasound machines.
we did 2 ultrasound machines there and was really tired out after finishing the job.

tuesday went to SGH first for the commissioning of a Graseby syringe driver.
after that went to alexandra hospital to do preventive maintenance on a suction pump.
we went to clinic F to retrieve the machine and bring it back to Alexandra Hospital BME to do the testing as there is no place in the clinic to test.
while doing the battery test, we found out that the battery is totally flat so in the jobsheet must write change of battery needed.

last stop for tuesday was Raffles hospital.
they had some problems with the networking again.
this time the ALOKA guy, sam, came as well to configure the computer to the (ultrasound)ALOKA machine.

they realised that one of the cables was missing and therefore cannot transmit the data over to the other end so the sam has brought a cable and replace it and the problem is solved.
sometimes is not just any cables that looks alike can be connected to the system, we must read the manuals and see whats the internal wiring of the 16/32 pins cable are and the directions to connect them is very important.

Monday

morning meet William at Yio Chu Kang mrt as we are going mount alvernia first.

William drive to mount alvernia hospital to return Mr loh (IDS engineer station at Mt A)the test equipment for the Mammotome machine which consist of all the tubings.
then realise that he haven reach so we put the equipment on his desk and left.

after that we went to Mount Elizabeth to get the test equipment for the CUSA EXcel machine.
i can still remember that the first day i followed William to Mt E for the commissioning of CUSA and it failed.
so the machine was sent back to our office waiting for William to troubleshoot and solve the problems. Being an senior engineering is not as easy as i think because the responsibility is there and people's expectation will be a lot higher.
after retrieving the test meter from Manny (BME guy from Mt E hospital), we went to SGH to attend to a breakdown call.
Ventilator servo I has an error message of 'technical error 28'.
we did a pre-use check test and display screen showed that the internal test failed and also the alarm test also failed in a single check.

William had predicted it and brought along a loudspeaker to replace as he explained to me that the resistance of the spoilt speaker is lower than the new ones.

Loudspeaker's changed and passed all pre-use check tests.

Off to office to service the CUSA EXcel machine.
did the test many times but it still failed. why ?

friday

friday went to changi general hospital to do PM services.
then met diana at BME.

Me and William did 4 machines at CGH.
the machine named fluidotherapy i think. haha.

need to test temperature only. (35, 40, 45 degree Celsius )

but each test need to wait for 20mins for the machine to reach that temperature.
so in the meantime i just sit down there read magazine. yes, there are lots of magazines there.
Got teenage, female, i weekly, wedding.... etc..
LOL..

then lunch time went to the foodcourt there to have lunch.
Lunch at CGH is cheap as compare to other hospitals.
the fruit juice is only $1 !
same price as Ngee Ann !

thursday

morning went to NUH with William for his project meeting. he needed to go because IDS salesperson was not free. so we went NUH meeting to listen.

after the meeting, went to NUH BME department to do commissioning of an ultrasound machine alpha 10.

commissioning basically means to test and installation of the equipment which they had just bought from IDS.

alpha 10 is the latest ultrasound equipment and it has a range of better features comparing to the older versions.

while we were doing the commissioning, the salesperson came.
after the commissioning is done, we pushed the machine to the site where they needed and 'install' the equipement with a external monitor that they have there.

Eva (salesperson), me and William went for lunch at NUS which is just 10mins walk from NUH.

KKH is our next appointment as William dropped Eva at Mount Elizabeth then to KKH.
At KKH, we went to ClinicD room 5 to PM an ultrasound machine. that machine is an old machine but the functions it has have to be the same although the technology is not that excellent.

we did Electrical Safety Analyzer testing and function test for the ultrasound, using the probe to scan with a phantom and measure for its accuracy.
When everything is done, realise that we still have time so we went down to TTSH to do PM for 3 Graseby syringe driver.

basically what we have to do for testing the syringe driver is test for the motor speed, motor accuracy, Occlusion ( blockage in tubing which carries fluid to the patient.

the range of the occlusion should be 3-4kg as we using a syringe like weight gauge for the driver to run till the motor stops.
by right if we had successfully passed the test, we will go home on time but one of the syringe driver occlusion test failed so we had to calibrate and test again.

after finishing the three PM for syringe driver, it was 6pm.
tiring day.

wednesday

morning at office reading manuals.
i ead about IABP and it stands for Intra- Aortic balloon pump.

afternoon went to tan tock seng hospital. it was my first time being there.
from office, tuan bring me and yip to tiong bahru for lunch then drop me off at TTSH for me to meet William.

Sit at the entrance waiting for William for very long. and finally he reached and we went to do our PM at breast assessment centre at B1.

William had poor memory as he could not recall the name of the person he wanted to look for so he called office to ask. proceed to do our pm inside a room after finding the person that we are looking for.

this time it is a Mammotome machine which William and i were first time doing it.
The Mammotome System is for diagnostic use only and is not indicated for therapeutic use.
Through the use of imaging methods such as X-ray or ultrasound, a breast abnormality or breast lump can be detected, even in its earliest stages. tuesday

time seems to past very fast today.
william and i stay at Mount Alvernia the whole working day to sort out the paperwork there as one of the engineer from IDS just left that place.
and he had some paperwork and PM services not completed.

checked through the files of PM services from May onwards all the way till Sept.
that previous engineer has made quite a number of serious mistakes in his PM service and i shall not elaborate.
Met stephen, the IDS boss, at Mount Alvernia in the evening, he came here to oversee things and tidy up the mess as well.

William ask boss to reserve me a place in IDS because after my attachment i can start work as full time liao. then the boss says he will reserve a place for me.
then i said the time is still long to decide anything now, both of them laughed.

We went up to the sterilizer room and we have to wear the 'full armour' to enter.
i am not sure what is wrong with the machine but saw them doing the leak test and went to the back of the sterilizer to check the air pressure.

its my first time seeing sterilizer and its huge!
thats all for today.
i went home from Mount Alvernia Hospital.

Monday
Week3:

time flies and it is already the third week i am being attach to IDS company.
Learn a lot of skills from the senior engineer of the company, William.
A special thanks to him for teaching me with patience and his enthusiasm.

today went to KKH to do perventive maintainance on five patient monitors.
surprised that he willing to let me handle all five and he just concentrate on his paperwork.
but of course he helped here and there whenever i am too slow.

we did the monitors till about 1pm thenwent for lunch at 'kopitiam' inside KKH.
Nowadays most hospital has a lot of facilities. KKH even had a macdonald as they are specialties in women and children patients.

after lunch we went down to Thomson Medical Centre (TMC) to do the networking of the ultrasound machine. It is similar service compared to the raffles hospital's call.
all we have to do was just type in the IP address of the server or printer that they wanted to assign to and configure for the 'store' button.

It looks pretty easy but William and i had to refer to the manuals and figure out some part of the config.

When the setting is done, the doctor ask us to standby outside as she took one patient to test out if the setting is what she requested.
After TMC, we went to Mount Alvernia hospital to sort out some paperwork there.

attachment day 10

its Friday, william had to go back office so i meet Ziyuan at jurong east MRT to take shuttle bus to office located at tuas. it is much faster than taking train to boonlay MRT and take bus 192 this way.

the shuttle bus arrive at 745am. before the bus reach to a complete stop, people already crowded around the bus doors. typical singaporean (kiasu), they are afraid that they could not find a good seat.
then we reach IDS building about 820am.

morning doing some paperwork in office helping Tuan to stock check infusion pump at the work room at level 1.

weather looks bad and its lunchtime.so william drove us to NTU canteen 1 to eat. tried the western food there. it was not bad and its cheaper than outside.

first hospital we went to is SGH. IDS got a demo machine ventilator there having problems so we went to check it out. most probably is the circuit board need to change so william brought
along 2 boards.

after installing the board, we did a pre-use test and it was successful. then we went to KKH to continue our PM with syringe driver. we had plenty of time and so william ask me to teach ziyuan and ruby what to do when doing PM for syringe driver.

the steps to follow on the checklist for syringe driver are quite simple and they can easily do the PM with very little help from me.

finishing with the two small syringe driver, me, william and ziyuan went to Raffles hospital saying goodbye to Ruby.

the manager of raffles hospital BME department called william for help to set up the networking system of the ultraound machine to link to the main server so as the images of the patients will be sending to a common point in the hospital.

we waited outside the room as there was still patient inside.
we saw a coffee machine and william ask us to take a cup of coffee each as it is free of charge.
while sitting down on the sofa enjoying our coffee, we saw many pregnant women accompanied by their husband waiting for check-up.

then the manager called us into the room to set up the networking system.

after a while, william realized its 530pm and see us off.

this morning meet william at commonwealth MRT and we went to NUH.
william had to attend a project meeting at NUH so u brought me along to listen.
after the long meeting, we went for tea break then went KKH to submit PM forms.

william drove me to toa payoh to have lunch after that.
Mount Elizabeth was the last stop for today.

we went to critical care unit (CCU) to PM a patient monitor. the air conditioner there was like 20 degrees. so cold la.
oh ya. while i was doing the testing on the patient monitor, realised that the ECG leads got blood stain. it was so dirty and william could not stand it so he take paper with alcohol and wipe till clean and we wore gloves.

after that write report and submit to BME.

hello.
today was a boring day because i had to report to Mt alvernia again as williamstill have a half day training on medical equipment.
i stayed in Mt alvernia till about 3plus pm and william came fetch me.

morning reached Mt A. at 840am. the IDS engineer station there have not come so i read some manuals and mr toh from BME taught me about infusion pump and electrical safety analyzer.
it feels like a long day reading manuals and doing paperwork.
i was asked to arrange the files and number the PM list done according to their number shown at the master list.

after that went for free lunch there as they gave me the eating coupon.
the people there are friendly and the environment is very good. but one thing not that good is the size of the hospital is too small.

its 4pm ad william fetch me to Aloka company located at harbour front building. the first thing you will spot when you step in is the ultrasound machine.
they are testing on the new model of the machine which they have not yet released to the market.

i took a few information paper about the older version ultrasound scanner used in hospital now.
william drop me off at Outram Park MRT after that and went home.

today william did not fetch me to work as he got a one and a half day training to attend.
so i took bus to Mount Alvernia hospital located opposite macritchie reservoir. reach there a little early so sit down and read machine manuals while waiting for mr loh to come. he is a staff from IDS and will be permanently station at Mt Alvernia.

so the whole day i help him did paperwork and helping out a bit in the syringe pump testing.
its a boring day without traveling around in car.

yo !hmmm... tired day i would say because today do many equipments XD

this morning william meet me at yio chu kang Mrt 830am.
it was drizzling, william drove carefully.
we chatted in the car while he driving towards KK women and children hospital.

we reach KK hospital, went to level 4 to their BME department.
and guess who i saw, ruby (if i didn't spell wrongly), my classmate whom attached to KK hospital.

okay, did 4 patient monitors mostly on my own and william's help.
also did about 4 syringe driver.
so we went for lunch later than usual at KK hospital's 'kopitiam'.
as we cannot finish so many machines so we complete them after lunch.
after KK hospital, went to Thomson Medical Centre to change the ventilator's oxygen cell.
now then i know that the oxygen cell of the machine actually cost few hundreds. never did i know such a small thing can cost so much.
after work william drive me to Mt Alvernia to meet a guy from IDS also and i will be following him tomorrow as william will be having a one day training.

oh ya.. about the friday nite riding.. we ton at town with our bikes as usual.
but going to tampines in the morning to see the race !

it was raining at town at about 4am..
so we slack around play around...

slowly ride to tampines in the rain when it gets smaller or not so heavy..

reach tampines drenched. cycled along Mrt track from kallang there onwards ba..

then reach tampines see my friends race.
the race track was basically man-made except for the grass below. LOL
got stairs made from planks and logs.. its an obstacles course and 2 persons compete at a time see who reach e ending point 1st.

after that went frenz house take bike bag and took MRT home !

its a friday !
which means at nite i can go cycle already. haha.

ok morning i and william went SGH to check out the ventilator machine's battery life as the last time we saw it as 0% so we leave it to charge for 2 days hoping the battery can be charge up.
the ventilators at SGH are new so next time when doing PM or service testing its easier as there isn't many knobs and it has a touchscreen !

the battery was charged up fully when we arrived and so william did his paperwork and let the customer sign.

went to KK hospital after that to do PM on ventilators.
yes its ventilator again. the machine has so many knobs on it so the testing process is very tedious and time comsuming. so theres two machines need testing and calibration, william did on machine while i did the other one. took us quite long to do these two ventilator.
after this we also did a PM for patient monitor.

went for lunch quite late. receive service call from thomson medical centre. had to service ventilator again.
and they have two ventilator. but one of them is newer version.
reached there, check out the two machines and realise the newer one has the oxygen cell problem. william say the oxygen cell has use finish thats why during the pre-use check the system indicate the oxygen cell check failed.

as usual, william pick me up at mrt station and we headed to alexandra hospital.
did Preventive Maintainence for ECG machines. its just a regular check and testing on the machine.
we use the safety analyzer machine to test for leakage current all those.
and the ECG machine got 10 leads so all the leads were attached to analyzer to test and after that we did a simulator test where the simulator can set to a certain heartbeat per minutes to compare with the ECG machine and print a report for evidence and report writing.

afternoon went to KK hospital to change the battery of IABP balloon pump machine.
it consists of 2 twelve volt batteries, which means the battery is big.
as the BME personel do not know how to change the batteries, they called us.

next went to Mt Alvernia to do PM for ventilator machines.
2 machines there to do so william demonstrate 1 machine and ask me to do the other !
i was a little bit scare to try but he got a manual for me so i just have to follow the manual.
the test was very tedious and i was very slow because its my first time doing it !

really tired today....

day3 for attachment today.
sian of blogging so long liao so today shorter post. ha. XD

Same as yesterday, William picked me up at MRT station but today at commonwealth.
then went to Singapore General Hospital. William asked me to assemble the ventilator machine, following the other sample that he assembled.
he guided me along and the machine is assembled !
then he teach me how to do the machine testing.
he did for 1 machine and other 1 was done by me.
actually quite easy to do the testing as the test all done by computer. what i have to do is just do the setting and follow what the computer instruct me to do.
very fast we finish the 2 machine testing.
i met mr lee, he has been working in SGH BME for more than 30 years. think he is the 1st few batch of BME in singapore.

went to mount alvernia in the afternoon to standby. also had a lecture there.
william explain to me how cusa works and how ventilator works.

Attachment 2nd Day

hell0 !

today wake up slightly later at 7am because i meeting william, the senior engineer at yio chu kang MRT at 830am.

about 730 left house take bus then mrt. morning crowd flood the mrt after woodlands station.
alight at yio chu kang station about 720am.
waited for william to fetch me to mount elizabeth hospital behind paragon shopping centre at orchard.

it took quite a while to reach orchard as there was traffic jam in the morning almost everywhere!
reach orchard, william parked his vehicle at paragon carpark. i asked him why, he said that there isn't any parking lot at mount Elizabeth because the carpark is very small. so we walk through paragon shopping and cross the road to the hospital.
change the pass to enter and we make our way to the operating theater (OT). but before going to OT, we have to change our clothes to their standard dressing as we all seen in the television programs. arrive at OT, and today we doing a machine named Cusa excel. it is a machine use to cure kidney stone. Using very high frequency ultrasound to 'melt' or dissolve the stones. it sounds cool definitely isn't it !

so its TIME to get hands on !
William powered on the machine to check if its working and what kinds of error it has.
theres a handpiece warning and the manual said its the vibration error.
so william concluded that the handpiece for that equipment was spoilt therefore we change a handpiece. but the same error keep appearing no matter how much we tried. after examine the machine and william discover that the jumper at the circuit board was placed at wrong jumper. it was suppose to be pin2 and pin3 together but the machine had put it pin1 and pin2. so we try putting the jumper to pin2&pin3. the warning sign still appear so william decided that the machine has problem. so i suppose the machine need to be replace.

Luchtime.
went to the hospital canteen to have lunch. not that many people queuing for food so we decided to eat there and the next appointment would be at paragon so we did not bother to find other eating place.
the food there is okay but a bit expensive for us. william told me that the staffs working there only need to pay $1.50 for lunch. but mine cost me $4.50 =( .

after lunch, we still have quite soe time so we bought newspaper to read. went paragon seven eleven to buy newspaper and went up to 11th floor to wait for next appointment.

serviced an ultrasound scan machine at paragon in a private clinic. the machine has 6 years of history already. so thats why need to service.

seems pretty easy to service and went back office after that.

today is my 1st day of attachment !
industrial attachment program (IAP) is what they call it.
Being attached to a company call IDS medical system.

start work at 830am - 530pm end.
woke up at 630am to prepare for work and left house at 7am.
took MRT to boon lay station.
so bloody crowded la.. reach boon lay MRT at 735am.
nvm.. met ziyuan, my gay partner for attachment and same class with me also.
walk to interchange to take bus 192 towards tuas.

board that 192 bus. stand for almost 1hour then reach. actually not the journey long leh.
is the traffic at that timing very jialat! argh !
reach IDS at 830am. drizzling.
we change pass and walk to office. =.=" in the rain of coz.
the security and the office is damn bloody far sia.. think got 300m. =.="

okokok...

went up office. 3rd floor. finding Mr seah swee san but he wasn't there so one of the engineers 'tuan' attend to us.
he find 2 seats for us and ask us to read medical equipment manuals as he haven got anything to let us do yet.
read read read...
read till lunch time went out with company bus to a canteen. 1240pm followed bus back to office.
after lunch, Tuan has some syringe pump to service so we went down to NUH.
reach NUH biomedical department, Tuan told us to sign in the book.
after that he took out the equipment and service them.
we just watch by the side as he demonstrate and explain to us about the syringe pump equipment.
Towards the end of the day, another engineer called me. his name is william, a china guy, senior engineer of the company. he said i will follow him from tml onwards and asked me meet at yio chu kang MRT tml morning to go to mount elizerbert hospital at orchard. XD

after calibration, theres an error so the equipment has to be dismantle out to adjust tat spring tension. imagine u have to open he equipment till liddat in order to adjust tat 1 spring tension. LOL..

today went cycling with alot riders.

sorry guys, for not updating for the past week.
kind of busy with school's project as next week is the final presentation already!
must wear formal also..
but the report for the project is already done.
just touching up this week.
just bare with me for a while more k?
haven been riding for few days le.. the most cycle go eat only.

on the 7-7-7, i was riding at town as usual but wat makes 7-7-7 so special?
12am when we were counting down, nothing happen also..
theres no ounting down parties anywhere.. oni saw some tents at town"Live Earth".
thats all ba... LOL

Sunday went Gangsa track to help out with trail building.. haha abit here and there la..

today is sunday !
woke at 7am liddat. meet my friends for breakfast at bukit timah at 830am.
slowly eat till abt 9am den slowly ride to daily farm BT entrance.

ok no mood to post.
summarised.

1030 my race start
abt 50min later i end my race.
waited till 1pm for results.
i got 2nd place.

after went out eat with frenzzzz..
den came home slp till dinner ! =P
bike is clean. n need to wash at all..

argh i just getting too lazy to blog liao.. hoho

today is thursday already. went training this morning at bukit timah.
did 2 laps. not bad wor.. timing is 23min + 22min = 45 min+
think i have a good chance of winning top 3 places in my category. XP

oh ya.. tml or rather today since its over 12am liao, i going work at expo for one day.
job recommended by aaron, my working friend last time.$8/hr. not bad wor...

today morning went for training, at nite went causeway point to eat sakae sushi with derek and j.keat . we ate the dinner buffet ! woots !
Long time never eat till so damn bloody fuLL liao... haha.. i think the last watermelon i almost cant swallow down. too full ler.
after that went arcade a while den take 187 go home liao.
tats all ba.. tired.. go orh orh liao..

Hellos !
din train for cross country for 3 days. saturday sunday celebrating with parent at hougang. sunday nite went riding with group of friends and we ended up playing some words games thrru-out the nite till 6+am. outside !

hoho.. now for the full story.
sunday nite, went cycling with Bukit panjang riders.
went to eat abit 1st then to skatepark (B3). play a little while we went to bukit batok interchange 7 eleven buy drinks and play bike a while there.
i saw police car came and we ran away with bikes. LOL.
went to sunshine place there play a while. then to chua chu kang park open area play.
once again police car came and dunno y we ran also. saw this group of malays guys and gals and a kid riding bikes so we told them got police and they ran too ! LOL
i dunno y we ran but i know y they must ran cos its like 1+am liao.. Police sure will catch them + they got a underage kid.
we went limbang 7 eleven and slack then we saw the malays coming to 7 eleven too. LOL. so funny ..
think they went home after that.
we went to nearby limbang park to play wallride ! and the park is labelled No cycling allow ! LOL
we play for about 30mins and saw a police car !
so we just slowly ride away to someplace where we can sit down and play those stupid games. haha !
i was around 3am+ and the words games really need to think alot !
arghh !!
realli out of brain juice liao... still remember the
last game yest was to list out all the bike brands we can think so. lasted about 15mins and we are finally just cannot think anymore. LOL
went to eat breakfast at sunshine then came home abt 7+am to orh orh !
what a day !

see still so sleepy after i wake up at 4+pm.. hoho

just reach home from hougang. the journey about 1 hr.
yest went there to have dinner with parent and stay overnite there lor..
went to hougang mall food court to have dinner. this morning went hougang green eat breakfast. =D

alex went to bikeshop help me register.
i made my choice of joining the Mens senior B Category (20yo- 29yo).

i was considering between age group category and Mens Open.
Due to lack of training and confidence, i chose the Mens senior B. haha..

introducing my bikes

ok now i introduce u my 2 bikes:

First bike:
Brand : Scott
Model : voltage MX1 (bought 5 years ago)

Introduction: This bike has gone through all the hard and pain with me.
bring it to all the competition and winning medals ! hehe....

Second bike:
Brand : Specialized
Model : P3 (2005 model)

Currently running single speed, means cannot change gear. LOL

This bike i use for playing stunts, jumps, and recreational use. haha
basically this is a fun bike !
the parts on this bike is not bad de...
so this is my another precious bike.. haha

hoho.

today went to train for the competition.
saw a handful of riders started training for the race liao.

we only did 1 lap.
halfway thru the trail, alex's punctual tire. change tube and wasted sometime. manage to complete the lap and i was ready for another lap but alex say he cannot make it.
so we decided to train hill climbing at bukit batok hill. the very steep road hill opposite bukit timah fire station there.
went 3 laps, alex did 2 laps and we called it a day. =P
oh ya.. in the BT trail we saw quite a few durians. =PpPpP
and so unlucky tat alex punctual his tires under a durian tree. LOL.

will upload my dirty bike pics in a while .........

hi all,
today went for cross country bike training with alex lee. (bukit timah mountain bike trail)

at about 1pm we went in the trail. the weather was quite nice, no sun, no rain, just the perfect weather to ride. =P Did the 1st lap and rest at the visitor centre to refill our water and have a rest before tackling another round.

think i have not train with this bike too long ba. got the feeling of could not handle the bike as the way i want and 2nd lap i fell down trying to change lane. my bike just slip and i fell. well i guess few scratches is unavoidable when u fall.

think i tml going to train also depending on my recovery and the god knows weather. haha.
probably morning ba.

a bit boring day.

hi, today woke up about 12pm. hoho how come so late? cos yest slp at 4+ am dont know why also.
i'm lying on my bed from about 2am ler. just could not fall aslp la.. haha

wake up. see the sky is clear and sunny therefore decided to go abit further to ride.
i suggested to go portsdown which is at Commenwealth area for some dirtjumping fun.
i went with my group of friends around my area.

Turn into tanglin halt for some dessert since its on the way.
WOW ! it is really nice... i love the cheng teng !!
ordered 2 bowl cheng teng and 1 momo chacha..
hoho
1 bowl only 70 cents so order 3.
so cheap and so nice !!!!!!

ok after the dessert we went to portsdown liao. play for a while and slack for the rest of the time cos i really have no mood to play anymore.. lala
dont know why also.
did not have much fun as expected lor.
at about 7pm, the sky suddenly turn very dark with bit of lightning so we rush back to tanglin halt to have dinner. and it rains for a short while only. Lucky !
after that we ride home ler.. tats all..
